The Pinewoods Morris MenThe Pinewoods Morris Men are, by all accounts, the oldest morris team in North America (and showing it more every day). An outgrowth of the Pinewoods dance camp, PMM was organized in 1964. Although we usually say we are from Boston, our members are scattered across greater Boston and beyond, and we dance annually throughout New England (and occasionally old England). Pinewoods have also been a definitive part of the Christmas Revels since its inception in 1971.

Black lives matter. The Pinewoods Morris Men support the protests against police brutality. Because of the history of racism in the US and England, including racist tropes in our folk traditions, it is important for us to say that PMM and our morris dancing do not celebrate white supremacy or nationalism. We celebrate a love of our community, this dance form, and the music and voices of oppressed people through the centuries. Folk traditions exist in a constant state of listening, learning, and changing. We look to take anti-racist actions to be sure that our traditions are not a part of larger oppressive systems.
